Thanks for your comments Heather, I appreciate it. We rarely get over that way for breakfast but will certainly stop in again soon to see how things go. I don't doubt that the service will be much better; we probably just happened to be there during an "off" time. Thanks for the certificate offer but we'd rather just slip in without any fuss. :)

Hi there,

I realize this post was written a long time ago but I just stumbled upon it now. I am the owner of this restaurant so I felt the need to say something even though this happened quite awhile ago.

First of all, I'm really sorry that you didn't find the staff to be courteous towards you- this isn't acceptable and it's something that we take seriously.

Unfortunately in the course of a day a few mistakes do get made and as you pointed out there's not much you can do about honest errors. With that said, I definitely agree with you in that the service you received surrounding this issue wasn't appropriate, and for this I am very sorry.

I encourage all my employees to put the customer's needs first and to always make sure a customer leaves happy. This clearly didn't happen in your case. I appreciate your comments and I will bring this up with all my staff.

I hope that maybe you can give us a chance again someday to see what great service we are actually capable of. Should you want to come in again, email me your name and I will set aside a gift certificate for you and your wife for a free meal.

Thanks again for your comments, and I do apologize for your not-so-great experience last time. Hope you have a great day.

Ha - having a good laugh while reading you blog. I stumbled accross it while searching about Eastlink phoine service and the recent storm that left me too, unimnpressed and without phone service for three days.....

I would probably be one of those opinionated assholes you seem to like. I tell it like it is - just like you do. My mother would call us "kindred spirits" in our way of thinking.

I laughed and laughed about the lady in the food court. It has ALWAYS driven me nuts the people who will stand in line for 20 minutes and wait till they get to the counter to decide. AND McDonalds hasn't changed the premise of a burger in 50 years, but there are still people who can't figure out if they want a Big Mac or a 1/4 Pounder.... I worked at McD's as a teen, and it made me want to cry sometimes because you had to work to practically beat an order out of some people. I specifically remember working in the drive thru one Friday night at supper time, a full line of cars, and a fellow at the speaker..... it went like this:

Welcome to McDonald's may I take your order please?
I'd like a burger......
........ ok, what kind of burger would you like?
well let me see..... what do you have?
...... we have a basic hamburger, cheeseburger, a Big Mac - a double buger with sauce, we have bigger burgers if you're really hungry, we have chicken and fish......
Um, tell me more about your cheeseburger......
.... well, it's a burger....... with cheese........ um, a single patty, you can have ketchup, mustard, pickle, onion.......
I see. Does it come in a bun or is that extra?
All our burgers come with toasted buns sir.
Oh good!...................LONG PAUSE................. I thought maybe he'd fallen alseep.......
Sir, have you decided yet, I need to take your order so we can get your burger ready......
I'm still deciding. I think I want a burger, but I'm thinking I might like the fish too. Doyou have soup?
No sorry, just burgers. We have salad though.
Oooooohhhhh! Tell me about the salad, do you grow the vegetables locally......

If I recall the episode correctly, I was working in the back booth, and by now everyone from the front booth had come to the back in complete disbelief of the conversation they were monitoring on the speaker and trying to peer through the window to see the driver. The swing manager and shift manager were also there and one had taken over the headset and tried to talk an order out of the guy and ebded up leaving in complete frusteration, handing me back the headset with a "Good Luck"........ The lady in the car behind coming up and blasting him in Spanish and him finally pulling away from the speaker was a relief!

Keep up the great blog, I shall be back when I need a good laugh again.

Cheers!

Hey man, yes I am still basking in the warm glow of the Lord's love! Hopefully, his idea of "love" isn't the same as most Catholic priests...

Hi Glennis,

I was actually able to control my reflux through some simple dietary and lifestyle changes. I've recently posted about it here: http://roomsix.com/health/how-i-cured-my-acid-reflux/. That being said, there might be more of a physical cause for your reflux due to pregnancy, something that is difficult to control for.

For me it wasn't so much what I ate, but when I ate it and how much. Overeating would trigger it, as would certain foods like onions, pepperoni, and tomato sauce. I used to eat a lot of packaged and "convenience" foods, like fast food, microwaveable meals, etc. But it usually wouldn't be an issue unless it was 2-3 hours before bed.

I've heard some people have had luck drinking a glass of diluted apple cider vinegar either with their meals or just before bed. The following site has more info and a recipe for a tonic:
http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com/vinegar-and-acid-reflux.html

As always, you should consult with your doctor before starting any treatment plan, natural or otherwise, to ensure safety and good health. Best of luck!

Hi, I am hitting that third trimester, and the baby is high enough and pushing everything up enough to give me good old heartburn at night. I just wanted to see what natural suggestions people had for getting rid of the heartburn. This is my second time around and I don't remember what all I did with my first, besides Tums. I'm looking for more along the lines of what I should put in dinner to help.

Wow, someone didn't get the joke...this article was lame satire, nothing more.
Rest assured, my brother and I were never beaten or abused in any way (except perhaps by being forced to attend church and Sunday school) and in no way do I condone violence against children. Not all of them, anyway.
